Case Study
Private Collector — Mornington Peninsula Residence
A residential hang designed like a collection edit: balanced, architectural and deeply personal. Our role: placement strategy, hardware selection, and a finish that elevates the home.
The Brief
A client relocating and reworking their collection wanted the home to feel intentional — not crowded, not tentative — but curated. The brief included hero works, family pieces, and new acquisitions that needed to sit in harmony with architecture, light and daily life.
The aim: a result that feels like a gallery-standard presentation, tailored to the warmth of a lived-in space.
Our Role
MAS worked with the client to plan placement room-by-room, testing heights and spacing in context. We supplied the correct fixing method for each wall type, ensured alignment across key sightlines, and refined each artwork’s final position to suit scale, furniture and natural light.
We also advised on future additions — leaving flexibility for the collection to grow without losing cohesion.
Challenges
- Balancing hero works with smaller pieces across multiple rooms
- Ensuring consistent heights while respecting varied ceilings and architecture
- Managing reflections and natural light across glazed works
- Wall-type differences and hidden services behind plaster
Solutions
- Room-by-room placement planning with sightline testing
- Height rules adjusted subtly to suit architecture
- Glare-aware placement for glass and high sheen works
- Correct fixings per wall type, weight and artwork format
